Abstract
This special edition of the Revista Científica El Capacho brings together six research studies developed at the Universidad Tecnológica del Cibao Oriental (UTECO) that address, from multiple disciplinary perspectives, the water quality issues in Hatillo Dam, its tributaries, and its watershed. From hydrogeology and sediment geochemistry to heavy metal bioaccumulation in fish and massive aquatic organism mortality, these works constitute a body of scientific evidence aimed at contributing to informed decision-making for the protection of the most important reservoir in the insular Caribbean and the communities that depend on it.
