Abstract
University curricula must meet coherent quality standards to drive human, social, cultural, and intellectual development amid the demands of a fast-changing, globalized labor market. This descriptive/exploratory study examined the relevance of the Basic Education curriculum as perceived by 320 graduates (16.9% of a population of 1,890 graduates from 1996–2005), sampled via the Kreice and Morgan table and surveyed using a validated questionnaire. Most graduates found the number and content of general education and specialized courses appropriate, saw no need for additional courses, and felt their academic training aligned with labor-market demands and had proven useful professionally, while emphasizing that the institution should remain responsive to ongoing social, political, and economic change.
