Abstract

In this reflection essay, the lines of Duarte's thought are addressed, as a thinker and visionary of the independent nation. It is analyzed and reflected on based on Duarte's thought and his actions at the time of organizing the project that would lead the Dominican Republic to become in a sovereign Nation, free and independent of any foreign power and achieve their freedom. Although little is preserved of what was written by the father of the country, it is necessary to emphasize Duarte's ideological formation. The analysis shows the influence of different currents of thought: socialism, liberalism, romanticism and nationalism, which he received during his stay in Europe and its impact on the struggle for independence, and how the ideals of Juan Pablo Duarte forged the national consciousness and its These actions served as an example to lay the foundations for what we should do as a Nation, so that we would be a country that is not only independent, but also happy. The paper concludes with the arguments that support that Duarte's ideas served as a model to awaken national consciousness.
