Abstract
This research was conducted between January and May 2005 with the aim of determining the productivity of two rice varieties (Oryza sativa L) at four planting densities. A two-factor design was used, with a combinatorial arrangement and a randomized block distribution. The treatments arose from the 2x4 arrangement and four replicates. For the variety factor alone, statistical differences were only reported for the variable weight of a thousand grains. For planting densities, statistical differences were only reported for the variable number of panicles per m. Regarding the interaction between variety and planting density, no statistical differences were reported for the variables: yield, number of panicles per m, weight of a thousand grains, and grain fertility percentage. From an economic point of view, the application of increasing amounts of rice seeds of the IDIAF-I variety starting at 94 kg/ha reported increasing losses. On the other hand, the IMPALE-112 variety increased economic profits from 94 to 123 kg/ha, but starting at that density, it reported increasing losses.
