Abstract

The Secretariat of State for Education (SEE) conceptualizes the director of an educational center as the key element in the pursuit of quality. For this reason, international institutions linked to education view directors as the central figure who brings together all actors involved in education toward a common purpose. This chapter addresses all of the methodological processes that guided this study, describing its design, population, procedure, instrumentation, validity and reliability, and data analysis. This research was framed within a descriptive design, seeking to describe "The Role of the Director in Improving the Quality of Education at the Proyecto Agrario, Las Canas, and La Guamita Basic Schools in Educational District 16-02, Fantino." Upon completing this research on the role of the director in improving the quality of education at the Proyecto Agrario, Las Canas, and La Guamita Basic Schools in Educational District 16-02, Fantino, the following conclusions were reached: regarding demographic characteristics, a predominance of females over males was noted. Most teachers are married and reside in the urban area. The highest academic level attained by most teachers is a bachelor's degree, while one director holds a postgraduate degree. It is recommended that the SEE increase scholarships for training directors in educational management. It is recommended that bibliographic materials on management be provided to directors currently in service to strengthen their performance and thereby raise the quality of their management. It is recommended that the Regional Education Office 16 of Cotuí advocate with the SEE for improved conditions for district technical staff so they can provide better assistance to school directors. It is recommended that Educational District 02 of Fantino plan programs, workshops, and training sessions for directors to improve the quality of instructional management.
